Law and order will be the priority of the new SP government in Uttar Pradesh, chief minister- designate Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said, maintaining that no discrimination will be made on the basis of caste and creed.

Welcome akhilesh! It is ensured with the fresh Mandate in Uttar pradesh that Congress or BJP would not be able to win the major part of Hindi Cow belt known as UP.The infight between congress and BJP is limited within Uttarakhand where Congress romped home this time replacing BJP.th incarnation  of akhilesh yadav should not be taken otherwise as the Nation is ruled by Gandhi Nehru dynasty for long time. If Rahul Gandhi may be projected as Next prime Minister and if indira Gandhi and rajiv Gandhi had alread become Prime Ministers, why should we call it Dynasty Rule in UP. Akhilesh has led the party to Victory leading from the front and he deserves to be awarded by the party while the Nation should expect greater role by the Old socialist Guard Mulayam Sing Yadav. I have personally witnessed the Golden days in UP while Uttarakhand was the part of UP. For decades UP has lost the Political Leadership and Nothing positive happened in UP. let us welcome akhilesh for a change for better. We may hope only as Nothing is in our hand in the predominance of Identity Politics turning at best as Castelogy and ideology translated in Profit Oriented Business only.

Marking a generational shift in Uttar Pradesh politics, Akhilesh Yadav, who scripted his party's return to power in Lucknow, was today elected leader of the SP legislature party. At 38, he will be the youngest Chief Minister of the statewhen he takes charge on March 15.Mind you, the old socialist prespective has been already lost. When the Samajwadi Party's election manifesto, which was announced a few days before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, promised free laptops and tablets to every 10th and 12th standard pass-out if voted to power, it went against what the SP had stood for years.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today advised his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Akhilesh Yadav to lead a clean social and political life.

"I will be happy to see if Akhilesh keeps his personal and social life clean. This will be fulfilment of my dreams," he said addressing a meeting of newly-elected party MLAs here.

Mulayam told the legislators to fulfill aspirations of the people and try to win their hearts.

"You all have a responsibility on your shoulders. You should try to fulfill aspirations of the people and win their hearts with your behaviour," he said.

Addressing party leaders and workers, Akhilesh said now the aim of the party would be 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

He said he would try to fulfil promises made to the people.

Akhilesh, architect of Samajwadi Party's spectacular victory in the state assembly election, will be sworn-in as Chief Minister on March 15.

Minutes after his name was proposed by senior party leader Azam Khan and supported by Shivpal Yadav, Akhilesh, son of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, promised good governance and warned that "no callousness in law and order will be tolerated".

He warned SP workers that if they are found indulging in acts of hooliganism, they will be thrown out of the party — there have been several incidents of violence, allegedly involving SP workers, after the election results came in.

"By doing our work with full honesty, we can take UP on the road to development. Our priority is to provide good governance and relief to all sections of society. It is possible only if we perform our work with honesty and dedication," Akhilesh said.

Sending a clear message to the rank and file of babudom, the CM-designate said: "Those officers who are honest will be given postings while others will be booked. No laxity will be tolerated... we have issued instructions that no callousness in law and order will be tolerated. It has to be maintained, and officials should not hesitate in taking stern action."

"People rose above religion and caste while voting for us. We will take into consideration the interests of all sections of society. Farmers, weavers, Muslims, youths and every other section will be taken care of by the government. We have promised welfare schemes for everyone in our election manifesto and these will be implemented in true letter and spirit," he said.

The party leaders, though, were not surprised as they knew it was a signal that Akhilesh Yadav had taken over command from his father and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The announcement was significant as it did not just indicate an image make-over for the party, but signalled that the party was making an earnest attempt to infuse modernity into itself. Earlier, its decisions were mainly guided by caste factors as "modern ways" were considered detrimental to social progress and the party was essentially "status-quoist".

It was Akhilesh's answer to his rival, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who had attacked the former's party for opposing "computers" and "English".

The image make-over for the SP appears to be complete with the party's unanimous decision to appoint Akhilesh, who guided his party to a stunning victory in the Assembly polls, as the next UP chief minister. At thirty eight, Akhilesh is the youngest chief minister of the state.

Born on the first of July 1973 at Saifai in UP's Etawah district, Mulayam's native village, Akhilesh must have learnt his first lessons in politics very early, as his father had become a minister in UP in 1977, when he was four.

Akhilesh learnt the importance of discipline during his years at the Sainik School at Dhaulpur in Rajasthan before moving to Mysore for his bachelor and masters degrees in engineering. He also has a masters degree in environmental engineering from Australia.

Akhilesh was handed over command of the state unit of the party at a time, when its popularity was perhaps at its nadir. It had been humiliated in the 2007 Assembly elections and later in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. He was supposed to be a counter to Rahul but in a different style.

Akhilesh, who had been a MP from Kannauj since 2007, faced humiliation soon after taking over the party's state unit, when his wife Dimple lost to Congress's Raj Babbar in the Ferozabad Lok Sabha by-poll in November 2009.

He, however, took it in his stride and continued to infuse modernity into the party subtly. He knew that the SP must get rid of the "goondon ki party" (a party of the criminals) tag if it were to find support among the educated people.

He demonstrated it by refusing entry to mafia don turned politician D P Yadav into his party, despite the fact that Yadav's case was advocated by none other than senior leader Azam Khan.

Even the national SP spokesman Mohan Singh was removed after he sought to by-pass Akhilesh saying there were those in the SP who wanted D P Yadav to join the party.

His writ ran in the distribution of tickets and he single handedly ran the election campaign of the party. Akhilesh traveled around 10,000 km and addressed over five hundred meetings during and before the elections.
