The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas describes the recent cyber attacks on Israeli websites as a new form of resistance against Israeli occupation.
Senior Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said on Monday, “This is a new field of resistance against the occupation and we urge Arab youth to develop their methods in electronic warfare in the face of [Israel's] crimes.”
On Monday, the websites of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and Israeli airline El Al were hacked.
This is not the first time that Israel comes under cyber attacks.
On January 5, a hacker named Ox Omar, claiming to be a Saudi Arabian, posted a message on the Internet and said he has leaked the private information of a number of Israeli credit card companies.
The credit card companies said later that about 6,000 active accounts had been exposed.
According to Israeli officials, the Bank of Israel's website had also come under a cyber attack in 2008.
