HYDERABAD: A Kush Kumar, 20, a native of Bihar, attempted suicide at English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) here on Monday. The student reportedly tried to take the extreme step as he feared that he would not be allowed to write the supplementary examination scheduled some time later this month. He was admitted to Durgabai Deshmukh hospital after he consumed 20 naphthalene balls. Osmania University police inspector P Ashok registered a case.
The student had reportedly complained to the department officials that he was failed in his sixth semester as some of the faculty members of German language had a personal grudge against him. Kush Kumar, a dalit, had also alleged caste discrimination in the department.
