Jal Satyagraha
It is most unfortunate that the Madhya Pradesh government is not heeding the voice of poor farmers who have lost their lands to the Indira Sagar Reservoir.  Land-for-land compensation is a basic human right.  The farmers' Jal Satyagraha shows the determination of the farmers.  The Land Acquisition Act of 1894 is a colonial Act and must be amended.

SOLE OF THE NATION: Blisters on the feet are all that these villagers in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh are left with after 13 days of 'jal satyagraha' demanding land as compensation and reduction in the height of the Indira Sagar dam on the Narmada.
