Dahal-Baidya brawl takes a new height, Nepal Maoists party may split

Dahal-Baidya brawl takes a new height, Nepal Maoists party may split

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal talked personally with Senior Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya Kiran on Saturday and on Sunday with General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal.’

Both Baidya and Badal out rightly rejected Dahal’s request to attend the party central committee meeting set to begin today March 26, 2012.

Frustrated Dahal, according to reports, have thus advised his henchmen to plan counter strategies to foil protest programs as declared by the Baidya panel.

The Baidya panel has already made it clear that they will not join the CC meeting until Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai resigns.

“We will soon declare our own set of programs for public awareness”, claims Haribol Gajurel. Gajurel represents the establishment panel led by Dahal. He added, “They have unilaterally brought out their programs. We will not remain as a mere spectator. We will too declare our own programs to foil theirs.”

Similarly, Agni Kharel-another leader considered close to Dahal says, “They will not come. The central committee meeting will however, begin as per the schedule.”

Hari Bhakta Kandel of Baidya panel while confirming that they will not join the CC meeting told Nagarik Daily, “Now it all depends on the party administration whether it wants unity or prefers a vertical split.”
