Use Helicopters to Rescue People from Tall Buildings on Fire

Use Helicopters to Rescue People
from Tall Buildings on Fire

The fire in one of the buildings of AMRI Hospital in Kolkata, due to which 91 people have died till now, raises some questions about the rescue operations that are adopted in India. Why are helicopters not used for rescuing people from tall buildings that catch fire? Are the helicopters meant only for the benefit of the rich and powerful persons like industrialists and political leaders?

Helicopters can be used for lifting the hose-pipes, which can then be able to throw water on the higher floors of buildings that catch fire.

Helicopters can also be used for taking rope ladders to higher floors, which can be used for rescuing the trapped people. Helicopters can even help in connecting any building on fire to another building nearby with the help of ropes and steel cables, which can be used for carrying the trapped people in trolleys or cable cars to safety.

All the tall buildings must have some provision of using trolleys in emergencies like the fire. The trolleys should operate with the help of manual power and the force of gravity.

Can the experts from the armed forces inform us how the helicopters can be used effectively in different ways for carrying out the rescue operations in buildings that catch fire?
