PROTEST FOR LIVING WAGES BY WALMART WORKERS

A TYPICAL WALLMART STORE EMPLOYS 350 PEOPLE & MAJORITY DOES NOT MAKE LIVING WAGES

Out of that 320 are min. wage earners or less than $10/hr earner.

10 are managers and 20 are Supervisors.

98% of the stuff sold in Walmart is Made in China.

The minimum wage earners in America are not making the "Living Wages" that can take care of their families. That is the reason they are on Food Stamps and other welfare schemes run by Federal & state governments.

In America 30% of the jobs in Private Sector are paying $10/hr that can not provide sustainability to a family. So these earners are not making "Living Wages"; they need assistance to survive.

If India wants to give a bost to Chinese Economy & bost in the number of employed people on Welfare THEN THEY SHOULD WELCOME WALMART & ITS COUNTERPART FROM AROUND THE WORLD.

INDIA ADOPTING US ECONOMIC POLICIES TO SLAUGHTER MAIN STREET

India has blindly adopted the American Economic Policies, without taking into account America a one time Super Power is barely crawling and can't even walk under the load of these Anti-common people and Pro 1% Rich policies.

Today America has 50 mil people on Food Stamps, 20 mil unemployed, 30 mil under-employed, 16 mil children facing hunger, 1.5 mil homeless youth and 70 mil with no health insurance. Above all $16 Trillion external debts, $4 Trillion state government debt and $175 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. Today if you sell every American's assets the total that can be realized is $78 trillion!

DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH IN AMERICA UNDER PRO RICH ECONOMIC POLICIES
Bottom 50% owns 2.5% of the Nations Assets, 40% owns 26%, Assets, 9% owns 37.8% assets and top 1% owns 33.7%. In other words top 10% owns 41.5% of US assets.

The six heirs to the Walmart fortune are worth as much as nearly half of all American households. The Walton family was worth $89.5 billion in 2010, the same as the bottom 41.5 percent of U.S. families combined, according to Josh Bivens of the Economic Policy Institute. That's 48.8 million American households in total.

SHRINKING WORKERS WAGES & RISING CEO SALARIES
Workers wages in USA has Dropped 14.4% SINCE 1945 and on the other hand CEO salaries has gone up by 1400% in the same period.
30% employed in private sector of America are making less than $10/hour in other words not making "LIVING WAGES". The National Minimum wage has lost 30 percent of its purchasing power since 1968 as per NFLP report.

Walmart's First-Ever Retail Worker Strike Spreads To 12 Cities [UPDATE]
Posted: 10/09/2012 2:22 pm EDT Updated: 10/09/2012 9:41 pm EDT
The first retail worker strike against Walmart has spread from Los Angeles, where it began last week, to stores in a dozen cities, a union official said Tuesday.
Walmart workers walked off the job in Dallas, Seattle, the San Francisco Bay area, Miami, the Washington, D.C., area, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Chicago and Orlando, said Dan Schlademan, director of the United Food and Commercial Workers' Making Change At Walmart campaign. Workers also went on strike in parts of Kentucky, Missouri and Minnesota, he said.
Tuesday's walkouts included 88 workers from 28 stores -- a miniscule fraction of the 1.4 million who work at Walmart, the world's largest private employer. Until Friday, when about 60 Walmart employees walked off the job for a day in LA, no Walmart retail workers had ever gone on strike, the union said.
The workers are protesting company attempts to "silence and retaliate against workers for speaking out for improvements on the job," according to a United Food and Commercial Workers news release. Walmart workers, who are not unionized, have long complained of low pay and a lack of benefits.
Some striking Walmart associates plan to protest Wednesday at a Walmart annual investor meeting at its headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., said a striking worker.
"I make $8.90 an hour and I've worked at Walmart for three years," said Colby Harris, 22, of Dallas. "Everyone at my store lives from check to check and borrows money from each other just to make it through the week." The six heirs to Walmart founder Sam Walton, meanwhile, are worth $89.5 billion, or as much as the bottom 41.5 percent of Americans combined.
David Tovar, the retailer's vice president of communications, said the unhappy strikers "aren't representative of our entire associate base."
"We do surveys and our associate satisfaction scores have been improving over the past couple years, which runs counter to what a few workers who show up at events that the unions put them up to would say," said Tovar. He said Walmart's employee turnover rate is lower than the retail industry average.
Harris, who works in the produce department in Lancaster, Texas, belongs to OUR Walmart, the UFCW-backed worker organization that planned Tuesday's strike in Dallas and the others across the country. Harris said it's not just the wages that bother him. Walmart harasses and fires workers who join labor groups or complain about company policies, he said. "But I'd rather lose my job than be treated like this."
Tovar said Walmart has a policy of listening to complaints from workers. "We have an open-door policy," he said. "If you have any kind of issue you should bring it forward to your manager and if it isn't resolved to your satisfaction you can go to the next level of management."
Walmart also disputed the UFCW's claim that the strikes this week were the first ever. "The UFCW has done these same publicity stunts in the past," said Tovar, citing a 2006 walkout at a Walmart store in Hialeah Gardens, Fla.
However, the walkout in Hialeah Gardens was not exactly an organized union strike. In that case, workers with no ties to union groups spontaneously walked out of a store after an abrupt scheduling change, according to reports from the Miami Herald and Bloomberg news. Tuesday's strikes, meanwhile, had been planned for weeks.
"They say [these strikes] are an attempt to get attention," said Harris. "But if we were getting the attention we deserved, we wouldn't be protesting." He added: "I'm not being paid for these days. We're taking off work to protest -- obviously there must be something wrong."
Non-union workers employed in Illinois and California warehouses owned by Walmart also went on strike earlier this month.
UPDATE: 7:20 p.m. This article has been updated to include comments from David Tovar, Walmart vice president of communications, and Colby Harris, a Walmart worker.

Bihar: Dalit woman burnt alive for demanding her due

HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times
Gaya, October 08, 2012

A demand for the money allotted to her under Indira Vikas Yojana cost a mahadalit woman her life in Bihar's Gaya district. The former block pramukh, who had siphoned off the funds, allegedly sprinkled kerosene on Putukwa Devi and set her on fire. Putukwa Devi died in hospital on Sunday.

The 35-year-old woman was a member of the poorest of dalits. The category was created by chief minister Nitish Kumar to provide them with special benefits.

An FIR has been lodged and accused Subedar Yadav is on the run. Indira Awas Yojana is a Centrally-sponsored housing scheme for the poor.

"In 2008, the money had been sanctioned in Putukwa Devi's name for the construction of her house, but Yadav had kept it," said Pitamber Roy, station house officer, Mohanpur.

She had been repeatedly demanding for the return of the money, said Roy. On Saturday, he barged into her house in an inebriated state along with a few other men.

"The woman's husband Barhan Manjhi works in Bhutan and neighbours allege that she had illicit relations with the ex-pramukh. But that day, heated exchanges followed when she objected to the entry of his associates," the SHO said.

Then Yadav, who was already peeved over her demands for money, sprinkled kerosene on her and set her on fire.

"Then they left, but Putukwa Devi, despite her condition, followed Yadav to his home. He took her to the hospital where she died a day later," said Rajesh Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, Sherghati.

SC/ST jobs: Chambers asked to have targets

Press Trust of India / New Delhi October 09, 2012, 11:05

Wanting "visible impact" of the affirmative action for employment of SCs and STs in private sector, the Prime Minister's Office today asked the industry chambers to set time-bound targets and directed the Commerce Ministry to build a database for clarity on figures.

The PMO reviewed progress on the issue at a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Pulok Chatterjee and attended by representatives of chambers FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM besides various ministries.

"In the meeting, progress was reviewed on affirmative action for SCs/STs. It was noted that some progress had been made in adopting the Voluntary Code of Conduct and running skill development and vocation education programs to improve the employability of weaker sections," a PMO statement said.

The meeting decided that "there is scope to ramp up these initiatives and scale up the activities and coverage for there to be a visible impact and recognition of ongoing efforts".

While referring to the actions taken by the three chambers, it was noted that "a lot of effort is being made but it is still sporadic and scattered".

It was suggested that each industry chamber could work out a five-year vision voluntarily which could guide the annual action plans, the statement said, adding, "This would give an idea of the long term path and where they aim to be."

The meeting felt that "a lot of work has been done in the area of affirmative action but not captured well", it said.

"A database also needs to be built up and shared with the Government. It was decided that Secretary (DIPP) would set up a system to collect quarterly data from the three chambers and build a database on Affirmative Action for SCs/STs," the statement said. (MORE)

Dalits live in fear of cops in Gandhi's Gujarat

The police firing on dalits at Than town in Surendranagar district was the latest in a series of police atrocities committed on Scheduled Caste people in Gujarat. Most acts of police brutality towards dalits go unreported but even the five cases — including the Than incident — that were officially recorded in the last three months paint a sad picture of caste prejudice in the state.

In one incident which took place in Rajkot, the police lathicharged a rally of dalits and beat a girl so savagely that she had to be hospitalized for treatment of spinal injuries. Sadly, she is still in hospital. The Gujarat high court had, suo motu, issued notices to the police department in this connection.

In another case, a dalit youth was paraded naked in Ved village of Lunawada taluka in Panchmahals district. A Lunawada court took congnizance of the incident in favour of dalits.

In yet another incident that took place in Banaskantha district, the body of a youth who had died while in custody at the Pathawada police station, was kept in police custody for three days.

Police indifference to dalit suffering has driven many Scheduled Caste people to suicide. Recently, in Kelia Vasna village of Dholka taluka in Ahmedabad district, a dalit youth committed suicide in front of the Dholka police station after the police refused to register a complaint against his business partner.

His relatives say that the suicide note of the deceased youth was submitted to the police but it has gone missing.

FIRs and murder cases have been registered against policemen in two of the five cases mentioned above but this is unlikely to end the plight of dalits who, particularly in rural areas, live in constant fear of police violence.

Talking to DNA, Manjula Pradeep executive director of Navsarjan, an NGO which fights for dalit rights, said that those who are supposed to enforce the law themselves seem biased against the Scheduled Castes.

"It seems the police decide as per their whim whom to protect and whom to ignore," Pradeep said. She cited the incidents of Rajkot and Thangadh as instances where the police had used brute force against unarmed, innocent people.

Retired director general of police RB Sreekumar said that prejudice against dalits is common in the state's police force.

"The law has many provisions to ensure dalits their rights. However, they continue to face problems mainly due to the ineffective implementation of the law," Sreekumar said.

However, additional director general of police, SC-ST cell, Gujarat, Pramod Kumar, is not ready to accept this fact. He said that the SC/ST Cell of the Gujarat police takes cognizance of atrocities committed on dalits and investigates the incidents thoroughly.

Than, Surendranagar
Three dalits, including two underage boys, were killed in police firing at Than town in Surendranagar district. A murder and conspiracy case was registered against four police officials only after dalits took to the streets at several places to protest against the incident.

Rajkot

Police lathicharged a dalit rally against the murder of Gunwant Makwana, an SC leader. In the lathicharge, policemen beat up a young girl so savagely that she suffered spinal injuries. The girl is still in hospital. Gujarat HC had suo motu issued notices to police in the case.

Ved, Lunawada
Arvind Makwana, a Dalit youth, was paraded in his knickers in Ved village when he agitated against a retired police inspector belonging to an upper caste. Lunawada court has taken cognizance of the incident in favor of the Scheduled Caste people.

Pathawada, B'kantha
Arvind Chauhan, 27, a dalit youth, died in police custody at Pathawada police station in Banaskantha district. His body was kept in police custody for three days. Following an agitation, a murder case was registered against 4 cops, including PSI of Pathawada police station.

Kelia Vasna, Dholka
Dashrath Solanki, a dalit, committed suicide in front of the Dholka police station as the cops had refused to register a complaint against his business partner, Bhikhabhai Patel. Solanki's relatives claim suicide note of the deceased was given to cops but is now missing.

Muslim-baiting to Muslim hating

Let us stand firm against all forms of cultural imperialism and bigotry, but let us also condemn the senseless killing of the innocent and especially the attacks on Western embassies

At least five people are dead, including a dedicated US diplomat who had risked his life during the Libyan revolution to stand with the people of Libya against the tyranny of Qaddafi. These people certainly did not deserve to die especially since they had nothing to do with the film produced by a producer whose real identity is still not fully clear.
Let us examine our own actions first. A clip of this movie (Innocence of Muslims) is posted on YouTube. The Egyptian media start talking about it. A group of Muslims then attacks the US embassy in Cairo and another group attacks the US consulate in Benghazi. The second group ends up killing four people, including the very ambassador who had fought alongside them during the revolution. Does this meet any criteria of Islamic sense of justice or Islamic mores on political alliances? Of course it does not?
The shariah is clear: one cannot punish randomly for wrongs committed by specific people. Thus, if an American makes a film about Islam and insults the prophet, it does not make every American a suspect and a criminal. The diplomatic missions of all countries within Islamic nations are places of Aman, places that need to be protected at all costs. Attacking them, therefore, is not only wrong under international law but also immoral in terms of Islamic rules of Aman and protection provided under national and international treaties.
So, absolutely, without a doubt, all attacks on US embassies in wake of this new scandalous attack on Islam are haram, forbidden, and immoral.
The movie, of course, is the cause of this series of tragic events. The movie falls into a specific genre that happens to be the main concept in my forthcoming book: poetics of incitement. This kind of poetics, which has its attendant politics, involves picking up topics most sensitive to practicing Muslims and then rendering them in one or the other art form.In all cases the producers of these texts always claim that their purpose was to challenge Islam and Muslims to rethink their practices and that they have the artistic license to do so.
Now, of course, there is another brand of racist opportunists who abuse this freedom of expression and end up producing works with no artistic merit but with a huge potential to enrage common Muslims. The cause of this rage, thus, offers itself as a proof of what is to come. Or in other words, such stupid movies and books claim that by attacking Muslims where it hurts the most they will, somehow, be able to smoke out the most intolerant practitioners of Islam. And when these intolerant Muslims perform the unspeakable acts of burning building and killing innocent foreigners, the actions are then offered as a proof of Muslim atavistic nature and inherent intolerance. The same logic is being applied by at least one person involved in the production of this tasteless piece of ordure.
Mr. Steve Klein was deeply involved in the production of this film. That his involvement in this production is not free of malice and bigotry is painfully obvious. This self-proclaimed warrior goes around US mosques looking for the lurking Islamic terrorists and finds it his patriotic duty to do so. That this kind of private crusade has been allowed to continue in today's America is what we should be protesting about. Would he been able to do this kind of surveillance and offer his silly proclamations against any other ethnic or regional group in the United States. Somehow, it is believed, the tragedy of September 11 has given him the right to go on a perpetual witch hunt against Muslims in America. And, let us not forget, he is not the only one: many a GOP lawmakers have made it central to their campaigns to scapegoat American Muslims just to "secure" their base and get a few votes.
Another sad pathetic participant in this sad attempt at self-promotion is Pastor Jones, famous for public burnings of the Qur'an. He was proud to show the video clip of this so-called movie to his parishioners. So, what do these people get out of these actions: to prove that Muslims are irrational and dangerous? But you are likely to enrage even some regular Muslims if you threaten to burn their book, especially since you cannot force them to see your act from the perspective of your own cultural and religious sensitivities.
So, in the end then, Muslims are inherently evil and prone to violence because they, somehow, refuse to see the world with the eyes of the very people who are attempting to goad them into violence. And when this violence erupts, as it has over a vast global landscape, these minions of hate can then tell us that they were right all along and the proof is on the TV screens. So, basically Muslims must become passive, inert, and docile and must show no rage or anger when the most sacred in their religion is mocked and derided: That seems to be the only  way to prove that Muslims are decent people.
Let us not forget that those who caused this rage are no model Americans either: Pastor Jones in no way represents the American tradition of tolerance and compassion and is rather a great example of sanctimonious bigotry; Mr. Klein is unapologetic vigilante anti-Islam bigot and in no way represents America, and we are not even sure what the elusive Mr. Bacile (or whatever his name is) stands for. These three represent the worst of America and should not be allowed to become symbols of America to the Muslim world.
On the other hand, our mullahs should not incite the kind of rage that makes their followers lose their common sense of decency and justice, especially if they seek revenge on those not even remotely responsible for this sad episode in tasteless "reformation" of Islam by yet another group of bigots.
So, let us stand firm against all forms of cultural imperialism and bigotry, but let us also condemn the senseless killing of the innocent and especially the attacks on Western embassies. They are in our lands under Aman, under international treaties and to protect them is not only our international responsibility but also our moral obligation.

Tension after Dalit priests not included in church rituals

Rameswaram,Oct 7, 2012, (PTI):

Tension prevailed at Tiruvadanai, about 70 km from here after some Dalit Christians reportedly indulged in violence, questioning non-inclusion of six Dalit priests in special rituals in a church in connection with its silver jubilee celebrations, police said.

Susai Manickam, priest of Oriyur Punitha Arulanandhar church said about 200 priests and nuns coming in a procession to the church were blocked by Dalit Christians who questioned the motive for suspending the six priests and said they would not allow celebrations unless the priests were included in the 'Tirupali' pooja and special prayers.

Police said they then indulged in violence, breaking festoons and street lights. Church officials decided to suspend the celebrations in order to hold talks with the Dalits as a tense situation prevailed and negotiations with them failed.

Meanwhile people in seven coastal hamlets in Rameswaram hoisted black flags in support of Dalit Christians and demanded that caste Christians allow Dalits to participate in the rituals.

They also hoisted black flags at the Paraloka matha church in the island in protest, police said.

Tenth rape in Haryana in less than a month; Dalit teen commits suicide

Edited by Mala Das | Updated: October 07, 2012 12:49 IST

Jind: The horror of rape continues unabated in Haryana. A 16-year-old Dalit girl committed suicide on Saturday after she was allegedly gangraped in the Sachcha Kheda village in Haryana's Jind district. The incident is the tenth case of rape in the state in less than a month.

According to the police, the victim was forcibly dragged by one of her neighbours, Pradeep, into his house and later raped by him along with another man, Naveen. Pradeep belongs to the same community as the victim. Shocked by the incident, the girl went to her house and set herself on fire. She suffered 90 per cent burn injuries.

She later succumbed to her injuries at a government hospital in Rohtak. But she did manage to record her statement before a magistrate, which helped the police in registering a First Information Report (FIR) in the case. According to her statement, Pradeep's sister-in-law
kept guard outside his house while he raped her. Another man, Sanjeev, also came inside the room and bolted the door, but did not rape her, she had said.

The cops have arrested the main accused, Pradeep, his accomplice Naveen and Sanjeev. The trio will be produced in a court tomorrow. Pradeep's sister-in-law, meanwhile, has been sent to judicial custody.

The incident is the latest in a string of cases of crimes against Dalit women in Haryana. Last month, a teenage Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a group of 12 men in Hisar. The accused also filmed the incident on a cellphone and circulated the MMS. Unable to cope with the situation, the girl's father killed himself. For five days, his body was at the mortuary of a local hospital, while the villagers protested against police inaction for almost a month. The victim and her mother refused to take his body from the morgue, saying they will claim it only when they get justice. This finally forced the police to take action.

But the fact that it took his death to propel the police into registering a case of rape is a grim reflection of the condition of Dalits in the state.

On October 4, a newly-married woman registered a complaint saying she was allegedly abducted and gangraped by four men at Banwasa village under Gohana sub-division in Haryana's Sonipat district, 200 km from Chandigarh.

In another incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 45-year-old neighbour in Rohtak, about 70 km from Delhi on Wednesday evening.

In the same area, a minor, mentally-challenged Dalit girl was allegedly raped last Monday. The 15-year-old victim was allegedly lured by three women relatives in Kachchi Garhi Mohalla colony of Rohtak and then raped by a man in an abandoned house.

Last week, a teenaged girl was gang-raped by four men in Gohana town in Haryana's Sonipat district.

In Rajasthan, power of ghee fights caste

Oct 07, 2012 - Narayan Bareth |

Ayurveda describes ghee (clarified butter) as nectar and suggests its use for healing. The Hindu scriptures term it an essential requirement for sacred rituals. But for the dalits of Chakwara village, in Jaipur district, ghee is a weapon against untouchability.

The dalits of this village have been cooking their food in ghee for the last 76 years as a mark of protest. "You can call it a Ghee Satyagarha," says Harishankar Bairwa, a dalit in Chakwara. "Since 1936, ghee in this village has not been the privilege of only the caste Hindus. We defied their diktat and resolved to cook our food in ghee," says Babulal Bairwa, a dalit worker. "Despite all odds, we use strictly ghee," he added.

In 1936, the village's dalits had organised a community feast and dishes were cooked in ghee, a privilege of caste Hindus. "Our defiance invited the wrath of the Hindus who considered it an insult," said dalit rights activist Harinarayan Bairwa. "Suddenly the caste Hindus attacked the dalits who had gathered for the feast and they threw dust and dirt into the dishes and sweets," he added.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar also mentioned the Chakwara incident in his writings. "That was the moment our community decided to defy this practice and we started using ghee instead of other edible oils," says Mr Bairwa. "Woh ye hi kehte the ki agar aap ghee use karoge to unchi jaat wale kya karenge (The caste Hindus told us, 'If you cook in ghee, then what will we do),'" said Srikrishan, Dalit from the village Social scientist Rajiv Gupta said ghee became a symbol of dalit pride. "Sometimes pride makes an object a symbol of identity. We should see the ghee here in that way," Prof. Gupta added.

Who: Any institution, organisation, group or concerned citizens can organise a meeting / rally to submit the Memorandum Addressed to the Prime Minister of India through the local authorities for Pro Poor National Land Policy
Target: organise 2000 rallies / meetings across India on 17th October 2012 to submit the memorandum to the Prime Minister of India for Pro Poor Comprehensive Land Reforms

Introduction
Due to the absence of effective land-reforms, 40 percent of India's population mostly from the dalit, adivasi, nomadic and minority groups are landless and nearly 30% people in rural areas do not have safe tenure rights to their homes and can be evicted as encroachers. On the other hand, Lakhs of hectares of agriculture and forest land is being transferred to corporations for non-agriculture purposes, like mining, plantation, urbanization, and infrastructure development. As a result of this transfer of land, villages, farmers and the rural poor are losing access and control over their livelihood resources at an unprecedented rate. Lack of reasonable food security in rural areas coupled with abysmal employment opportunities in cities for the displaced rural youth is making them disillusioned and is pushing them towards violence.

To address these issues, Ekta Parishad, under the leadership of Rajagopal P.V had organised a March in 2007 from Gwalior to Delhi involving 25,000 landless and homeless people to advocate with the Government of India for a Pro Poor Comprehensive National Land Reform Policy. Despite promises to consider the issues, the Government of India did not take any action and the problem of landlessness became grimmer.

Jan Satyagraha
In October 2008 Ekta Parishad announced Jan Satyagraha, a month long March from Gwalior to Delhi from 2nd October 2012 to press for the formulation and implementation of a Comprehensive Pro Poor National Land Policy. In preparation for this Rajagopal P.V and a small group had started a Samvad Yatra from Kanyakumari on 2nd October 2011 to dialogue with different land-struggles around the country and build public opinion for a national campaign for a pro-poor comprehensive land-reform policy. In one year, the Samvad yatra travelled 80,000 km, conducting 1138 meetings in 24 states and 338 districts meeting hundreds of struggles. An outcome of the Samvad yatra is that more than 2000 organizations are part of Jan Satyagraha Campaign. The issue of Jal, Jangal, Jameen was raised more than 5000 times in print and electronic media around the country.

Recognising the tremendous groundswell of support during the Jan Samvad across the country, the Government of India came forward for negotiations and with a request to call off the Jan Satyagrah. Organisers of the Jan Satyagraha engaged in many rounds of serious negotiations with senior ministers and functionaries of the Government to evolve a consensus for a National Land Reform Policy.  On 2nd October 2012, Shri. Jairam Ramesh, Minster of Rural Development, and Shri. Jyotirajaditya Scindia made a written announcement on behalf of the Government of India at a Public Meeting in Gwalior to the demands raised by Jan Satyagraha. The civil society leaders who have been involved in Jan Satyagraha for the past one year have rejected the government's response as they felt that the government needs to show greater seriousness and commitments to address the legitimate demands to find a solution to the problems of landlessness and homelessness through formulation of an appropriate National Land Policy.

March from Gwalior to New Delhi- 3rd October to 28th October 2012- 1 Lakh to Participate
In these circumstances, despite appeals by the government to call of the March, Jan Satyagrah launched the Padayatra from 3rd October 2012 from Gwalior with 50,000 landless from across the country. It is estimated that 100,000 people will be participating in the month long 350 km March when it reaches Delhi on 28th October 2012 to appeal to the Prime Minister of India to formulate and implement a pro-poor comprehensive land-reform policy.
